The Story of Nachiketa and Yama<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Nachiketa was the son of Sage Vajashrava<\/strong>, who was performing a ritual where he gave away gifts. However, he offered old and weak cows<\/strong>, which was not a true act of generosity. Seeing this, Nachiketa asked his father, \u201cTo whom will you give me?\u201d<\/em> Annoyed, his father replied in anger, \u201cI give you to Yama, the god of death.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Taking his father\u2019s words seriously, Nachiketa went to Yama\u2019s world. Since Yama was not there, Nachiketa waited patiently for three days<\/strong> without food or water. When Yama returned, he was impressed by the boy\u2019s patience and granted him three boons<\/strong> (wishes).<\/p>\n

    For the third boon, Yama tried to distract Nachiketa with riches, a long life, and pleasures. But Nachiketa refused, wanting only the truth<\/strong>. Seeing his determination, Yama revealed the ultimate wisdom: the self (Atman) is eternal, beyond birth and death, and knowing this leads to freedom (Moksha).<\/strong><\/p>\n
